Elijah and the Raven

Pastor Daniel’s Sermon on 16/2/2024.

This month of February is the month of Exploits. Exploits mean digging in. The book of Daniel speaks to us about doing exploits. It says respect the covenant then you will be able to be successful in any exploit you are involved in. The Almighty God saw that man is not able to help himself. The first commandment was given to man through Moses. 

Moses himself could not help himself. He committed sin even in his meekness. Thousands and thousands of Israelites died in the wilderness. Even the gentiles are groaning. The world is in disarray and our God in heaven is a merciful and gracious God. He is not happy to see that the world is in peril. So He made a provision for His son Jesus to come and die for the world so that He can save the world from perishing. I had a discussion with a friend on the world affairs and what is coming upon the world. Most people are not concerned about tomorrow; that this world will surely pass away. They are concerned with building houses, businesses and assets to accumulate. They are concerned with becoming Presidents, Prime Ministers, etc. So I asked him, my friend what is your hope for tomorrow. He told me he will leave the wealth to his children. Then I asked him what if his children are not as worthy as himself and they sell off his property he leaves behind. Then he replied this is terrible. The only solution is Jesus.not religion or church. That’s why the bible says those that know their God shall do exploits. David did exploit when he killed Goliath. We have also talked about Shedrach, Meshach and Abednego.

A raven was the bird that brought food for prophet Elijah. Prophet Elijah is a prophet of fire. He called on fire to consume the false prophets. Say this with me, Fire come down and destroy every wall of Jericho, every evil sacrifice, the enemy has set against my life and destiny. There are a lot of evil sacrifices going on that people are not aware unless the Lord opens your eyes to see. People use different things to make sacrifices against their fellow humas. Maybe at your place of work you occupy a position they feel belongs to them. Another case is when you buy a new car. This attracts enemies. They can go to the car and use nail or break into your car. They are children of the enemy. But they that know their God shall do exploits. 

God told prophet Elijah to go to the brook that He will send the raven. 1Kings 17:1, “ and Elijah said unto Ahab as the Lord God of Israel liveth, whom I serve there shall not be dew no rain this year but according to my word. But the word of the Lord came unto him saying get there hence, turn thee eastward and turn thyself by the brook Cheroth that is before Jordan. And it shall be that thou shall drink by the brook. I have commanded the ravens to feed you there. So he went and did according to the word of the Lord. So he went and dwelt by the brook Cheroth that is before Jordan and the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning and bread and flesh in the evening and he drank of the brook”.

That raven is not an ordinary raven. This raven is an angel. The Holy Spirit can formulate anything to fulfil a purpose. The Holy Spirit can send a raven to bless you and you may not see the raven. The Holy Spirit can send a dove like he did in the case of Noah to check whether the water has subsided. The angels of God encamp around the righteous. God sent them to help you actualize your God given destiny. The bible says the word of God is yea and amen. It must accomplish the purpose to which it was declared. Jesus Christ is the same today, tomorrow and forever more. Do you believe that what God did for Elijah can be done you. That’s why Jesus said that if you have the faith as small as a mustard seed you shall say to that mountain be thou removed and be cast into the sea and it shall be so. I remember what Jesus said about the centurion. I have never seen a man with this kind of faith. When you speak the word as a matter of authority. What you say shall come to pass. Every one of us here are men of authority because of the Holy Ghost. Because you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior. What Jesus did is what you can do if only you can believe. 

So the raven came to save Elijah from perishing in hunger. If you believe and keep the covenant, these angels of God will come help you in every of your difficulties, failure, lack, disease, disappointment and turn things around in a twinkle of an eye. Hallelujah. Say I am a receiver. Inorder to do exploit you must obey the voice of God. The bible says if you are willing and obedient you shall eat the good of the land. This is what the Lord is saying to us. His word is true and sure. It happened in the time of Elijah, David, Jeremiah, Peter, Paul and can happen to you. What separates you from the Lord is your sin. If you can believe, trust and obey the Almighty God, the same help shall surely come to pass in your life. 

A young man once came here and the Holy Ghost spoke through prophetess, doesn’t he deserve a promotion and Prophetess called and asked if he wanted promotion at his workplace. He said yes and she asked him to pray to the Lord. He wasn’t praying seriously so I called him and asked him to be on his knees and pray to God. After that I anointed him and in 2 weeks he got double promotion. He is not the only one. The same Holy Ghost asked me to enrol for another degree and I enrolled for a masters degree in Oral Robert University. It felt like a mountain. I had dropped academics in 1989. Over 35 years. I was so afraid. My wife encouraged me to go on. My confidence came from the fact that whatever the Holy Ghost asks you to do he will back it up. To the glory of God I will be graduating next month. God gave us a breakthrough in our business and we have come with our tithe. If you are tithing and sowing seeds in this ministry. The Holy Spirit that did it for us will do it for you. Just obey the covenant. Before the raven came prophet Elijah had a contest with the prophets of Baal and he said, the God that answereth by fire let Him be our God and the bible recorded that the other prophets of Baal called on there God’s but there was no fire but before Prophet Elijah finished speaking, fire came from above and burnt all the offerings. Because he repaired the broken altar. This is the time for us to demonstrate the power and grace of the Holy Ghost if only you can believe. We are going to feed people that are hungry. You are blessed in the name of Jesus. No weapon formed against you shall prosper.
